Complying with the law
By December 19, 2008, ALL public pool owners/operators must comply with the FEDERAL requirements:
* Install drain covers and meet the ANSI?ASME A112.19.9-2007
standard on EVERY drain/grate.
* Install an automatic shut off system, gravity drainage system
Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS), suction-limiting
vent system or disable the drain.
* Ensure that dual or muliple drains are at least 3 feet apart.

Failure to properly retrofit any public pool and spa that will be open after December 19,2008 will be in violation of the Federal Law. The maximum penalty for one or more violations is $5000. per day up to $1.825 million.
